ATX Technologies, Inc., Teams With ADT Security Services, Inc., to Offer Security and Tracking Systems for the Commercial Market
SAN ANTONIO, June 7 -- ATX Technologies, Inc., announces it
has teamed with ADT Security Services, Inc., to introduce telematics systems
automating fleet tracking and providing driver safety, improved shipping
shrinkage and inventory control. The systems, designed by ATX, will be
marketed under ADT's brand name ADT Mobile Security NETwork(TM).
ADT will market ATX's commercial product lines, including ATX's On-Guard
LS, LA, ST, HE and TG Trackers(R). The LS, LA and ST are engineered for
commercial fleet vehicles and executive protection. The HE is designed
specifically for heavy equipment tracking, while the TG is engineered for
tracking tethered and untethered trailers.
With ADT Mobile Security NETwork, ADT installs a "hold-up" or "panic"
button in a customer vehicle. In an emergency, ADT Mobile Security NETwork
knows vehicle location, speed, direction and the specific law enforcement
agency that would respond in that area. Additionally, in an emergency, ADT
Mobile Security NETwork receives audio from the vehicle and is armed with a
user and vehicle-specific database that facilitates a fast and effective
response.
According to John Williams, product and marketing manager for ADT Mobile
Security, there are three options available to meet customers' needs. "First,
by calling ADT Mobile Security NETwork, the customer can locate a vehicle in
an emergency situation. Secondly, we add a panic button and audio capability
so that we can respond to a driver-initiated request for help. And third, we
can provide a remote wireless panic button (keyfob) to the system. These
feature sets are then packaged to meet specific customer needs for fleet
vehicles (FleetNET(TM)), executive protection (LifeNET(TM)) and even trailers
(TrailerNET(TM))," Williams said.
"ADT Mobile Security NETwork has gone one step further in providing
top-of-the-line security services," said Steve Riebel, president and CEO of
ATX Technologies. "They have national accounts with a majority of the
Fortune 500, and they are the undisputed leader in their industry. We are
pleased they have turned to us for our telematics expertise."
In business since 1874, ADT Security Services, Inc., a Tyco International
Ltd. company, is the largest single provider of electronic security services
in both North America and the United Kingdom providing those services to more
than two million commercial and residential customers in North America and
Europe.
"This synergistic relationship between ADT Mobile Security NETwork and ATX
complements our strategic goal of helping provide security, life-safety and
vehicle location services to our customers while they're in an ever-changing
mobile environment," said Williams.
Designed specifically for the commercial market, ATX systems offered by
ADT Mobile Security NETwork merge 24-hour monitoring, wireless communications
and Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites to offer fleet owners immediate
access to vehicle location information. More importantly, drivers receive the
benefits of 24-hour emergency response and other services.
ATX has the only GPS/wireless connections on the market with simultaneous
voice and data transmission, allowing drivers immediate contact with a
response center specialist. This 24-hour, seven day a week service includes
personal safety and vehicle security monitoring, roadside assistance dispatch,
theft recovery assistance and two-way communication. Convenience services
range from remote power-door unlock to turn-by-turn directions to the nearest
restaurant, gas station, hospital or any other location requested.
ATX Technologies, Inc., is on the leading edge of intelligent vehicle
systems, introducing new technologies including:
-- Geo-fencing(SM) -- creating an invisible boundary in which a vehicle
        is authorized to travel and
-- On-Guard Profiler(TM) -- allowing fleet managers to remotely receive
        historical vehicle route information.

The ATX system pinpoints the location, speed and direction of fleet
vehicles and plots them on maps with timecode details. Information is
downloaded to ATX's web browser for a fleet manager to see information first
hand and print maps if needed. The units can be contacted or programmed to
"call in" at any time.
Theft monitoring is initiated when the tracking system detects motion or
ignition during the "secure period" or a Geo-fencing violation. If a vehicle
passes through the customized invisible boundary, the system notifies fleet
managers within minutes.
ATX Technologies, Inc. (http://www.track.com) is recognized as the industry
pioneer in the mobile mayday and telematics arena, furnishing emergency and
directional assistance, concierge services and 24-hour, world-class traveler
support in four languages. ATX works with a wide range of consumer and
commercial clients, including ADT Security Services, Inc., Greyhound Lines
Inc., Brink's Mobile Security, Fujitsu Ten Corp. of America, Mitsubishi
Electric Corporation and Alpine Electronics of America. Information is
