Clarion Presents Limited Time Promotional Offer For Navigation System Package SolutionClarion Teams with InfoGation and Navigation Technologies to Present Enhanced Navigation Solution for the Windows CE-Based Auto PC at a Special Low Price GARDENA, Calif., June 7 -- Clarion Sales Corporation, the developer and manufacturer of the revolutionary Clarion AutoPC(TM), powered by the Microsoft Windows CE operating system, has teamed up with InfoGation Corporation and Navigation Technologies to offer a navigation solution package that will be available in a limited summer promotion, which runs through Labor Day. Valued at over $600, the promotional navigation package is priced at just $300 and will be available nationwide at retail outlets that sell the Clarion AutoPC. "This navigation solution provides Auto PC users with the functions generally associated with dedicated navigation systems with the added entertainment benefits of a high-end car audio system," said James Minarik, president and CEO, Clarion Sales Corporation. "Because it fits into the dash, this system provides an extremely effective, multi-level solution for in-car navigation. It is also safe because its voice recognition allows drivers to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel." This special navigation package displays full color, moving maps on the screen of the Auto PC, which is in a compact 1-DIN configuration. In addition, the Auto PC reads drivers turn-by-turn directions to the location entered. Included in the package is InfoGation Corporation's Odyssey(TM) car navigation software, one Navigation Technologies' NAVTECH digital map database CD-ROM and a Clarion GPS receiver. The solution, priced at $300, coupled with the Clarion AutoPC (MSRP $1,299), is the lowest cost, fully-featured car navigation product currently on the market. "InfoGation is participating in this promotion in order to bring Odyssey's full-featured navigation to Clarion AutoPC users. We expect that Odyssey will be a must-have for Auto PC customers," said Dr. Kent Pu, president and CEO of InfoGation Corporation. "Odyssey's hands-free operation, directional prompts and spoken route guidance provide time-saving benefits to today's busy business people and greater safety to every driver." "Clarion's decision to create the first true navigation system for the Auto PC is an important next step in bringing the benefits of vehicle navigation to a wider consumer market," said Andrew Donchak, vice president of marketing at Navigation Technologies Corporation. "Clarion's implementation of the NAVTECH database with the SDAL FORMAT means consumers will get the benefit of the most accurate map database in a format that ensures interoperability and forward capability." "The Auto PC is an open platform designed to support a wide range of customized solutions," said Perry Lee, product manager, Productivity Appliances Division, Microsoft Corporation. "Microsoft is pleased that Clarion has integrated these technologies into one package to make it easier for customers to obtain an enhanced navigation solution for the Auto PC." "We are glad to have InfoGation on board to enhance the Clarion AutoPC's navigation system," added Minarik. "This is the first of many steps illustrating Clarion's commitment to an open platform upon which Auto PC users may build."
