7 June 1999
SASKATOON, SK - One week after opening the CASCAR Castrol Super Series West 1999 season with a 16th place result, Ford Quality Care Taurus driver Kevin Dowler rebounded to claim victory in the series' second event - the Auto Clearing Chrysler Superstore 150 - in Saskatoon, SK on Saturday night. In front of a capacity crowd at Bridge City Speedway, the Edmonton, AB native took the lead on lap 51 of the 150 lap event and held off several challengers the rest of the way. Hometown driver Dan Shirley took the initial green flag in fourth place - one spot ahead of Dowler - and went onto claim second in his NTN Bearings Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Mopar Batteries Dodge driver Steve Jefferson, of Prince George, BC, took the final podium position. Inside Track Communications.
