June and July busy for AMA Amateur Dirt-Trackers

5 June 1999

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- Amateur and youth dirt-track racers will have plenty
of options this June and July as the American Motorcyclist Association's
(AMA) new National Championships are in full swing in two regions of the
country.

High-point riders in each AMA Premier class featured at the Nationals
receive a special incentive package to attend the prestigious AMA Dirt
Track Grand Championships, July 4-9 in Indianapolis. That package includes
a complimentary pit credential and class entry in the same class at the
Grand Championships, plus an overall No. 1 plate and awards certificate.
Eligible riders will also be invited to take part in the opening ceremonies
of the July 3 New Indy Mile, an AMA Grand National Dirt Track Series
presented by Drag Specialties event that precedes the AMA Grand
Championships.

Racing classes will be offered for all ages and machine types at each
National, including the six AMA Premier classes -- 65cc Modified ages 7-11,
85cc Modified ages 12-15, 125cc Modified, 250cc Modified, 600cc Modified
and 21-over Open Twin, which will be featured at the Grand Championships.
