Practice Notes/Quotes -- Friday, June 4, 1999
Miller 225
Round 7 of 20 in the CART FedEx Championship Series
At The Milwaukee Mile - Milwaukee, Wis.

Robby Gordon finiished the opening day of practice for Sunday's Miller
Lite 225 in 21st position with a time of 23.174 seconds (an average of
160.287 mph) over the Milwaukee Mile oval. He was 24th in the morning
session at 21.689 seconds (163.745 mph). Practice resumes Saturday
morning with qualifying set for the afternoon. The green flag falls for
the Miller Lite 225 at 2 p.m. CDT on Sunday. It will be broadcast by
ABC on a one-hour tape delayed basis at 4 p.m. EDT.

ROBBY GORDON "Our Toyota motor is getting better every single weekend,
but we're realistically not in any position to go for the pole. So we
spent the day working on long runs. In the morning, we started with full
tanks and ran almost 30 laps on the same set of tires. We're getting
more and more comfortable with our Swift package. The weekend's
starting out a lot like it did at St. Louis, where it didn't look good
on the timesheets the first day. But we worked hard and found speed
when it counted. It looks like that's where we're headed again this
weekend."
