Ticona Automotive Sponsors the J.P. McCarthy Memorial PAL Invitational

Ticona Automotive is Presenting Sponsor Of the 1999 J.P. McCarthy Memorial PAL Invitational for Eighth Year
    DETROIT, June 4 -- For the eighth consecutive year, Ticona
Automotive is the presenting sponsor of the 1999 J.P. McCarthy Memorial PAL
Invitational which raises funds for the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL).
On June 7, many of J.P.'s friends will participate in the event at the TPC of
Michigan in Dearborn.
    "PAL is thrilled that Ticona has once again chosen to partner with us on
the J.P. McCarthy Memorial PAL Invitational and we applaud their ongoing
commitment to Detroit," said PAL President John MacDonald.  "This event has
become one of PAL's major fund-raisers and we are fortunate to have sponsors
like Ticona whose contributions favorably impact Detroit youth."
    Ticona, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hoechst AG, Frankfurt, Germany,
recognizes the importance of giving back to the community and is committed to
supporting Detroit's children and families through PAL.  Besides lending
financial support, Ticona employees have dedicated countless hours to
activities benefiting Detroit's children.
    "Last year, $160,000 was raised from the Invitational, which is a major
portion of PAL's fund-raising efforts for the year," said Alan Wilson, Sales
Manager Interior/Exterior, Ticona Automotive, Auburn Hills.
    "We are proud to be part of this program and PAL's efforts to enrich the
lives of children in the Detroit area," he added.  "Detroit is an important
market for our products and our Auburn Hills facility is in the backyard of
many OEMs."
    Ticona manufactures and markets engineering polymers for a broad range of
applications in the automotive industry.  In addition, Ticona's products are
used in electrical/electronic, appliance, healthcare, industrial and consumer
products industries.  Ticona employs over 2,500 people worldwide.  Ticona has
a dedicated team of sales professionals and engineers at its Automotive
Development Center in Auburn Hills, as well as facilities to support its
customers in the areas of design, testing, injection molding/prototyping, and
technical service.
    Additional supporters of the 1999 J.P. McCarthy Memorial PAL Invitational
are ticket sponsor Hudson's, golf cart sponsor Comerica, and travel sponsor
Northwest Airlines.  Other sponsors include Cadillac Motor Division,
DaimlerChrysler Motors Corp., Ford Motor Company, HALO, Toyota Motor Sales,
U.S.A., Inc., the Ritz-Carlton, and WJR.
    The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at noon.  Local amateurs
will play with touring professionals.  Tickets for the public are
complimentary and available in advance at area Hudson's Men's and Women's
Players' Shops.  All ticket holders who register at Hudson's are eligible to
win a golf vacation sponsored by Hudson's and Northwest Airlines.  Admission
on the day of the event is a $10 donation.
    PAL, founded in 1970, annually serves 8,000 Detroit boys and girls ages
six to 16 through 13 sports programs, three education and activity centers
that provide recreational and learning opportunities, and tutorial sites at
six Detroit elementary schools which improve reading and math skills.
