Best-Ever May Sales Reported by Lexus Central AreaCHICAGO, June 4 -- Lexus Central Area dealers established best-ever sales in May of 3,053 vehicles, a 34 percent increase over May 1998 when 2,287 were sold. The best-selling Lexus, the RX300 sport utility vehicle, posted an impressive 58 percent increase. The LX470 premium sports utility vehicle, posted a 54 percent increase. Both vehicles recorded their best-ever sales. The ES300 continues to lead the sedans, with sales of 789 versus 623 in May 1998, for a 27 percent increase. "Lexus enjoyed the best month in its history because of exciting products and very attractive prices," said Nancy Davies, general manager for the Lexus Central Area. "Our continued high resale value across the line made May an outstanding month to purchase or lease a Lexus vehicle. With year-to-date sales of 12,195 versus 8,545 in 1998, the Lexus Central Area is up 43 percent over last year's record sales."
