NHRA: John Force Isn't Letting Go of FRAM SureGRIP

    JOLIET, Ill., June 2 -- AlliedSignal Consumer Products Group
has planned two exciting events for National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) racing
fans at the FRAM Route 66 Nationals in Joliet, Illinois June 3 - 6, 1999.

    As part of a special promotion for the launch of FRAM SureGRIP,  Tommy
Johnson, Jr. will drive the AlliedSignal FRAM SureGRIP Top Fuel Dragster in a
one-time appearance during the FRAM Route 66 Nationals.
    Johnson, a 31-year-old native of Ottuma, Iowa, is one of the most popular
and rising star competitors in drag racing today.  Johnson's career
achievements include: two world records in 1994, eight national event wins,
and fifteen final round appearances.  In 1998, he ranked number 2 in IHRA
points standings and is the only driver to ever hold the NHRA and IHRA speed
records at the same time.
    AlliedSignal has also announced that a new motorsports advertising
campaign for FRAM SureGRIP that includes both television and print media and
features the ever-popular and legendary Funny Car Champion John Force will
debut during the FRAM Route 66 Nationals.
    In the humorous 30-second spot which will debut at the track's Winston
Vision board and also be used throughout the season in race-related
programming,  John Force gets a hold of the FRAM Extra Guard with SureGRIP and
can't let go. In fact, Force, one of many racing professionals who run FRAM
filters on the race track, said, "It sure makes it a lot easier.  It's a great
idea. I'm amazed that nobody thought of it sooner."

the AlliedSignal motorsports trailer to answer consumer questions throughout
the weekend of the FRAM Nationals at the Route 66 Raceway, 3200 South Chicago
Street in Joliet, Illinois.
