Federal-Mogul Completes Acquisition of Piston Operations From Alcan Aluminium LimitedSOUTHFIELD, Mich., June 1 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation today reported the completion of its acquisition of the piston division of Alcan Deutschland GmbH in Germany, a subsidiary of Alcan Aluminium Limited in Canada, that manufactures high quality pistons for passenger cars and commercial vehicles under the highly regarded Nural brand name. "This acquisition is a significant strategic fit with Powertrain's offering in Europe," said Alan Johnson, executive vice president, Powertrain Systems. "Adding Nural quality pistons to our existing European product portfolio is a clear win for our customers and helps us achieve our priority of providing power cylinder assemblies globally. This acquisition keeps Federal-Mogul at the forefront of value-added customer offerings." Alcan's piston division employs approximately 1,100 people at its manufacturing facility in Nuremberg, Germany, with annual sales in excess of $150 million. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
