Carlisle Acquires Leading Truck Body Manufacturer
SYRACUSE, N.Y.--June 1, 1999--Carlisle Companies Incorporated announced today that it has acquired Johnson Truck Bodies of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, a leading privately-held manufacturer of fiberglass custom truck bodies serving the foodservice distribution market. Johnson's products are used for delivery of food products to stores and homes. The company employs 395 people.Richard S. Husted, President of Carlisle Systems and Equipment Group stated; "Johnson's 68-year history of building quality products backed by solid customer service has positioned it as a leader and innovator in its markets. The emerging market for on-line ordering of food products by consumers is an exciting and positive trend from which Johnson is already benefiting as a primary supplier of distribution vehicles to this market."
Terms of the cash transaction were not disclosed.
