e-Parcel Delivers Data for Toyota's Production Control Division

NEWTON, Mass.--June 1, 1999--Toyota Motor Corporation, the #1 automobile manufacturer in Japan, and e-Parcel, LLC, the industry leader in customized software solutions for mission critical data deployment over the Internet, for the first time publicly announced that Toyota is using the e-Parcel(tm) Enterprise Solution for Toyota's Production Control Division.
Toyota has been using e-Parcel's technology and service to deliver information and updates internally as well as to over 2,000 parts vendors and manufacturers. A more cost-effective and reliable solution than FTP, fax and EDI for communicating over the Internet, e-Parcel provides Toyota with the ability to automatically send data and track its progress right to the desktop. e-Parcel tracks delivery progress in real-time, telling you the date and time the recipient was authenticated, when the recipient began receiving the data, completed receiving the data, and can even tell if the data was opened or moved after it was delivered.
Different from standard FTP or web posting mechanisms, there is no need to `baby-sit' data transfers for fear of Internet disconnections. e-Parcel automatically resumes the delivery from the point of the interruption. And different from e-mail, e-Parcel has no data delivery size limitations.
"e-Parcel's best-of-class Internet data delivery service provides us with the secure and reliable mechanism necessary for our production control. For instance, we use e-Parcel in place of fax for automatically delivering production plans and machine maintenance information with our vendors. Production plans include data about the number of cars to build and how many parts we will need. Also, our Y2K initiative is generating volumes of paper and rather than move those physically to the various divisions and vendors, we are using e-Parcel for easier, faster and more guaranteed delivery," said the Managing Director, Materials Control & System Planning Department, Production Control Division, Toyota Motor Corporation. "Since e-Parcel is an outsourced data delivery service and its Application Programming Interface (API) is clear and straightforward we were able to integrate e-Parcel into our new communication system in less than one month. We now enjoy an easy-to-use and fully automated data delivery, confirmation and reporting system."
"We are thrilled that Toyota has outsourced its mission critical Internet data delivery needs to e-Parcel." said Mr. Kobata, President & CEO of e-Parcel, LLC. "We look forward to providing the best data delivery mechanism on the market for all of Toyota's groups and vendors."
e-Parcel, LLC, is the industry leader in customized software solutions for mission critical deployment of data with over 20,000 corporate customers worldwide and partnerships with Compaq, Toyota, Hakuhodo, and Dai Nippon Printing.
e-Parcel was founded in 1996 as a Division of Mitsubishi and was spun off in April of 1998 and is privately owned.
