Receives Shingo Prize for Excellence in ManufacturingTOLEDO, Ohio, May 27 -- Cardanes, S.A., an affiliate of Dana Corporation , will receive the 1999 Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing from Utah State University's College of Business at a ceremony June 10 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel of Columbus, Ohio. The Shingo Prize honors companies in the United States, Canada, and Mexico that excel in the application of world-class manufacturing practices and techniques that result in superior customer satisfaction ratings and business performance. Cardanes, which is located in Queretaro, Mexico, engineers, tests, and manufactures complete driveshaft systems for light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicular applications. In granting the award, the Shingo Prize Board of Examiners specifically cited the different functions of the senior-level management team at Cardanes, as well as the relationship between managers and shop floor personnel.
