Land Rover North America Announces Executive Changes
               Charles R. Hughes to Leave After Thirteen Years;
Howard I. Mosher Named President and CEO

LANHAM, Md., May 26 -- Land Rover North America, Inc.,
announced today that Charles R. Hughes, the company's founding president, will
resign effective June 15, 1999, after more than thirteen years as president
and CEO of the Lanham-based company. Howard I. Mosher, formerly Land Rover
North America's executive vice-president, operations will replace Hughes.
Hughes is credited with having helped create the luxury sector of the
booming sport-utility market in North America. As head of Land Rover's U.S.
marketing arm, he was responsible for assembling the team of eight executives
that launched Range Rover of North America in 1987. In 1992, Range Rover of
North America was renamed Land Rover North America, and since that time, the
company has grown from importing 5,000 Range Rovers a year to having sold more
than 135,000 premium Range Rover, Discovery and Defender models. Land Rover's
retail network now numbers 119 outlets. This includes 75 Land Rover Centres,
unique, stand-alone retail outlets that provide the highest levels of
expertise for Land Rover vehicles and a host of related products and benefits
to owners. Last year, Land Rover's North American retail sales totaled nearly
$1 billion.
Howard I. Mosher will assume the role of president and CEO, Land Rover
North America, effective June 15th. Mosher joined Land Rover North America in
December 1994. His responsibilities as executive vice president of operations
have included all facets of Land Rover's sales operations, retailer
development, product support and customer relations. He has been instrumental
in the growth of the Land Rover Centre concept. As president of Land Rover
North America, he will be responsible for the continued growth of Land Rover
business in the United States.
"The first four months of 1999 have been record setting for Land Rover and
this is the pace we need to keep to meet our strong growth expectations," said
Mosher. "Land Rover is in great shape right now, the retail body is as strong
as ever. Our plan for the future is simple: we will continue to grow the Land
Rover brand and its retail network."
Prior to joining Land Rover North America, Mosher was president and CEO of
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, where he had served since 1984. His automotive
career, spanning nearly three decades, began with American Motors Corporation,
where he rose to be named director of Renault marketing and, subsequently,
director of sales operations at AMC.
Land Rover North America, Inc., established in 1986, imports Range Rovers
and Discoverys manufactured in Solihull, England, for sale in North America
and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the BMW Group, Munich, Germany.
