Story Leads: . 1998 Champion Dyson Racing goes for two-in-a-row at Lime
Rock Park after finally winning at its home track with Butch Leitzinger and
James Weaver in 1998. The team is based in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., less than one
hour from the circuit.
. The Doran Racing-prepped Ferrari 333 SPs of Lista and Matthews Racing
will be gunning to regain supremacy on the 1.54-mile circuit. Doran Racing
Ferraris won each of the first four Lime Rock Park contests since going to
the open-cockpit in 1994.
. Switzerland's Fredy Leinhard, owner of the No. 27 Lista/Michelin/MOMO
Ferrari 333 SP, is on the closest thing he has to home turf in North
America, as his worldwide corporation, Lista, has its North American
headquarters in Massachusetts. Like Dyson Racing, Leinhard will no doubt
have a strong contingent of supporters for the weekend.
. Dublin resident Jon Field will turn the Lola Can-Am chassis' first laps
at Lime Rock Park in the No. 28 Banana Joe's Lola Ford. Last year, Field
campaigned a Riley & Scott.
. Missing this weekend is the TRV Motorsports Riley & Scott Chevrolet, as
regular driver Jeret Schroeder will be competing in another race this
weekend-the 83rd Indy 500.
. The Prototype Technology Group BMW M3s will again be the favorites in
the GT3 class. Last year, they took both GT2 and GT3 at Lime Rock, but will
concentrate all efforts on reaching the top of the GT3 podium-a feat which
has eluded them in the last two USRRC races (Watkins Glen, 1998; Rolex 24,
1999).
. Stephane Roy and Loic Depailler make their USRRC debuts this weekend in
the No. 30 GT2 Mosler Raptor. Roy is a former Canadian F1600 standout and
Depailler is the son of the late Formula One star Patrick Depailler.
