PERFORMANCE ON THE INTERNET

25 May 1999

HIGH PERFORMANCE COMES TO THE INTERNET

WHAT performance cars owe their origins to Formula One? How many road cars can exceed 375km/h? What performance cars are electric-powered?

You can answer these questions – and settle many other bar-room bets - at www.roadntrack.com.

This is the world’s largest Performance Car Database, and arguably the Net’s most indispensible motoring tool.

The site was developed by International Road & Track Magazine and features 100+ manufacturers, over 640 individual vehicles and more than 11,000 images.

This is Phase One of a substantial roll-out of additional client services scheduled for the next few months - a Formula One Car Register, a world-class Automotive Bookstore, Automotive VideoStore, Automotive Collectable and Memorabilia Site and many other innovative concepts so far not available to the Automotive Web-Surfer.

The site has been designed for ultra-fast downloads – even for surfers with relatively slow computers and modems. It features a powerful search engine including facilities to list and compare vehicles under a wide range of parameters – e.g. engine type or capacity, vehicle speed, manufacturer type. For example you may be surprised at the number of road cars capable of more than 375km/h or the number of electric-powered high-performance vehicles.

It will prove an invaluable resource tool for the average motorist, motoring enthusiasts, researchers, students, the media, historians and the motor industry.

The site already provides hundreds of links to manufacturer and research sites, but will soon be capable of guiding clients to models, books, videos, technical papers, memorabilia, related motoring groups/clubs and commercial connections.

IR&T was one of the first motoring magazines to venture onto the web and has been active for more than 4 years.

The current site is a completely new development, and the result of more than 18 months in market research and resource development.

Reflecting the available technology, the Internatiional Road & Track netsite has offices in the United States, Canada and Australia.
