SMC Corporation Announces New President and Chief Operating Officer

    BEND, Ore., May 24 -- SMC Corporation today
announced the appointment of Michael R. Jacque to the position of President
and Chief Operating Officer.  Jacque brings extensive operating and sales and
marketing experience from his positions at industry-leading recreational
vehicle companies such as Marathon Coach Inc. and Guaranty Chevrolet Pontiac
Oldsmobile RV.
    "We look forward to leveraging Mike's hands on experience in operations
and manufacturing from his years at Marathon as well as the distribution,
sales and marketing knowledge he developed while at Guaranty," said
Mathew M. Perlot, chairman and CEO of SMC.  "We are anxious to have Mike on
board and believe he will be an extremely valuable contributor that will
greatly benefit SMC."
    Jacque was president of Marathon Coach, Inc. and oversaw its growth to
become the largest custom bus converter in the United States.  Jacque was also
general manager of Guaranty Chevrolet Pontiac Oldsmobile RV for 15 years where
he increased sales more than ten fold to greater than $100,000,000 and
positioned Guaranty as the largest RV dealer in the U.S.
    Jacque holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Oregon,
graduating summa cum laude, and is completing his law degree from the
University of Oregon Law School.  He lives in Eugene, Oregon with his wife and
two children.
