DISTANCE:	40 laps (50 miles)
POSTED AWARDS:	$59,150 (including $4,050 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR
Touring Championship point fund money.)

FIELD:  34 cars.  Starting positions 1-29 will be determined by time trials
(2 laps), positions 30-33 will be available to any of the top 30 eligible
drivers in the 1999 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Championship
point standings, who have entered the event, but have not qualified for one
of the original 29 starting positions.  The 34th starting position will be
assigned to any Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Champion driver who
participated as a driver in the 1998 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring
and who did not qualify for one of the original 29 starting positions,
provided eligible driver attempts to qualify.  If a starting position(s)
remains unfilled, then that starting position(s) will become available to
the next eligible car from the qualifying procedure for this event.

THE RACE:	The Slim Jim 40 is the sixth of 18 races on the 1999 Slim Jim All
Pro Series, NASCAR Touring schedule.  This represents the first time that
the Slim Jim All Pro Series cars will race at Gateway.

NOTES OF INTEREST
· This race represents a number of firsts.
This will be the first time that the series will run at Gateway
International Raceway.
This race will represent the first time that the series has held an event in
the state of Illinois.
This will be the first time that the series will run on a track that is 1.25
miles in length.
This event will be the first ever race run under lights at Gateway.
This race will represent the first time that the Slim Jim All Pro Series
cars will race in conjunction with the CART (Championship Auto Racing Teams)
champ cars and the KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Series.

STAT OF THE WEEK:  After two weekends off, the Slim Jim All Pro Series teams
resume their season in earnest as the Slim Jim 40 is the first of five
consecutive races over the next five weekends.
