    CHICAGO, May 24 -- Lapeer Metal Stamping Co., Inc. and
Borg-Warner Automotive, Inc. announced today the formation of
Lapeer Warner LLC, a minority business enterprise that will manufacture
automatic transmission friction clutch modules for customers in North America.
The announcement was made by Jerry Diez, chairman, Lapeer Metal Stamping Co.,
Inc., and Robert D. Welding, president and general manager, Borg-Warner
Automotive Automatic Transmission Systems.
    Michigan-based Lapeer Metal Stamping (LMS) manufactures high-quality
precision stampings and welded assemblies for the automotive industry.  The
company's commitment to quality is evidenced by three consecutive
DaimlerChrysler Gold Pentastar Awards, Ford's Q1, Honda's Plant Manager Award,
and the GM Supplier of the Year Award.  LMS has three manufacturing and
assembly operations in southeast Michigan.
    Chicago-based Borg-Warner Automotive, Inc. is a product leader in highly
engineered components and systems for vehicle powertrain applications
worldwide.  The company operates 54 manufacturing and technical facilities in
13 countries serving worldwide vehicle manufacturers.  Customers include Ford,
DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Toyota, Caterpillar, Navistar and VW.
