Johnson Controls Receives Multiple Honors From Wal-Mart
    MILWAUKEE, May 24 -- Johnson Controls has been
honored by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. as "Vendor of the Year" in the
U.S. for 1998.  In addition, Johnson Controls has been selected as a Wal-Mart
"Vendor of the Quarter" in the U.S. for the fourth quarter of Wal-Mart's
fiscal year (Nov. 1998 through Jan. 1999).
    Johnson Controls is part of the team which produces the successful
EverStart battery line for Wal-Mart.  According to Jeff Degen, Wal-Mart
Category Manager for Johnson Controls, "For the EverStart team to be selected
for these vendor awards is an acknowledgment of our mutual commitment to
quality products.  We're being recognized for the fact that we work as a true
extension of the Wal-Mart team in developing sales and marketing strategies
for all batteries, chargers and related accessories."
    Wal-Mart selects its award recipients based on progress and innovation,
coupled with a professional attitude.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.  "These vendors have maintained high product quality,
