Pennzoil-Quaker State Company Names Ahmed Alim Senior Vice President, Research and Development

    HOUSTON, May 21 -- Pennzoil-Quaker State Company
announced today that Dr. Ahmed Alim has joined the company as senior vice
president, research and development.  He will report directly to James J.
Postl, president and chief operating officer.  Alim will have direct
responsibility for the automotive consumer products company's technology
center, product development, product support and research and development.  He
will concentrate initially on transitioning the technical support organization
to a consumer product focus and establishing appropriate research protocols
and processes.
    Alim has 25 years of experience in research and development beginning with
Exxon Corporation as an engineer in 1974.  During his 17-year career in Exxon
Chemical International, Alim held several positions of increasing
responsibility.  Under his leadership, Exxon Chemicals received worldwide
recognition as an international leader in plastic packaging products and
achieved a 70 percent compounded sales growth in Europe, the Middle East and
Asia.  Subsequently, Alim directed research and development for Novon World-
Wide a division of Warner Lambert from 1991-1993 and became vice president of
technical operations, consumer products, research and development for Warner
Lambert in April 1993.  Most recently, he was vice president quality and food
technology for Pizza Hut, Inc., a division of Pepsico/Tricon Global
Restaurants.
    Alim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Cairo
University and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from McMaster University.
