Guide Registers Second Major Automotive Quality AwardANDERSON, Ind., May 20 -- Guide Corporation has recorded its second major automotive quality award by earning the 1998 Target Achievement Award for Quality from New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI). NUMMI is a joint venture operation between Toyota and General Motors to build Toyota Corolla and Chevrolet Prism automobiles in Fremont, Calif. Formed in November 1998 when General Motors transitioned its Delphi Lighting Operations, Guide Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of automotive lighting products. Carey Winkel, vice president of sales, marketing and planning for Guide Corporation, said the quality award from NUMMI follows the company's recent award from Subaru-Isuzu Automotive, Inc., (SIA) of West Lafayette, Ind. "The NUMMI quality achievement award is another indicator of Guide Corporation's progress in becoming a leading supplier to the world automotive industry," she added. Guide Corporation is headquartered in Anderson, Ind., and has 3,000 employees worldwide.
