C.A.W. and Wescast Industries Inc. Ratify Union Agreement Six Weeks Early

    BRANTFORD, Ontario--May 20, 1999--The Canadian Auto Workers (C.A.W.) and Wescast Industries Inc. (TSE:WCS.A.) announced today an early ratification of Local 4207 - C.A.W. contract in Wingham, Ontario.
    The new three-year contract was ratified six weeks early and will commence July 1, 1999, through June 30, 2002.
    Both the local union and management are pleased with the co-operative non-aggressive manner which was used by both sides in reaching the settlement. "I believe this further enhances our union-management relationships," said Bill LeVan, Vice President Manufacturing.
    Wescast Industries Inc. is the largest manufacturer and supplier of exhaust manifolds for passenger cars and light trucks in the world. In addition, the Company produces pressure retaining high-alloy cast steel pump components for the petrochemical, pulp and paper and food processing industries. The Company has six facilities and employs approximately 1,600 people.
