TRW Names Jerry Agee to Lead Federal Unit

RESTON, Va.--May 20, 1999--Jerry Agee has been named vice president and general manager of TRW's Federal Enterprise Solutions Strategic Business Unit by Philip A. Odeen, vice president and general manager, TRW Systems & Information Technology Group, based in Reston, Va.
This unit will provide the group with a broad range of engineering, information technology and electronic government services to agencies such as the Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the Census Bureau. Agee will direct the unit's growth and overall business development and strategic planning.
"Jerry's enormous experience in the federal marketplace will build on TRW's strong existing presence and facilitate its growth in new areas such as e-government," said Odeen. "Through his work with agencies such as the IRS, Jerry has shown that industry can partner with government to bring customers long-term value. His reputation for performance and thinking `outside the box' will be key to our long-term growth and success in this growing market."
Agee's new unit includes programs such as the one billion-dollar Treasury Communications System project, IRS Integration Support Contract, Census 2000 Data Capture Services contract, NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Operations System, and systems engineering and support contract to the FAA.
Most recently, Agee was program manager for TRW's Integration Support Contract with the IRS until he was named deputy general manager of FES in March 1999. For four years, Agee worked with the Treasury Department and the IRS to redefine and restructure the troubled Tax Systems Modernization effort. In partnership with the IRS, his team produced the Modernization Blueprint that the IRS now follows. He was instrumental in helping the IRS structure and compete the prime integration contract, which will implement the Blueprint. A key component of the Modernization Blueprint includes electronic commerce or Electronic Tax Administration. Agee joined TRW in 1987 and has worked in various marketing and management positions in the federal systems integration marketplace.
Agee is active in various industry initiatives to promote electronic commerce with the federal government. He serves on the board of directors for the Council for Electronic Revenue Communication Advancement (CERCA), an industry group dedicated to promoting greater use of electronic commerce between government, industry, and the public. Additionally, he is on the board of directors for the Professional Services Council.
"E-government is one area where we see strong market growth," said Agee. "TRW already has significant electronic filing and commerce work in the federal market. The EDGAR electronic filing and dissemination system with the Securities and Exchange Commission is an excellent platform from which we plan to market our e-government services throughout the federal government. Combined with our public key infrastructure (PKI) work on a Defense program, TRW is well positioned for this market."
A native of Roanoke, Va., Agee graduated from Florida State University where he earned a BA in International Affairs/Economics. He attended the Defense Intelligence College and has completed postgraduate work at both the University of Maryland, and the University of North Florida. Agee resides in Annapolis, Maryland with his wife Karen.
