Yamaha Launches YST-MS50 Speaker System

Yamaha Launches YST-MS50 Speaker System; - 80 Watts of Pure Performance in One Compact Package!

BUENA PARK, CA - May 20, 1999: Yamaha Corporation of America is pleased to announce the launch of the YST-MS50 three-piece, high-output powered multimedia speaker system. A perfect choice for die-hard game fans and discriminating music listeners, the YST-MS50 delivers an impressive 80 watts of total power and features Yamaha's new and exclusive Advanced Active Servo Technology (Advanced-YST) for unparalleled bass performance. The YST-MS50 will ship during the last week of May with an estimated street price of $129.99.

"Astonishing audio performance, a compact size and outstanding value make the MS50 a perfect choice for any multimedia application," noted Henio Arcangeli, Jr., vice president/general manager, Consumer Products Division, Yamaha Corporation of America.

Yamaha's exclusive Advanced-YST maximizes bass performance by incorporating an extremely rigid speaker cone in the speaker construction. The resulting sound features a deep, smooth, low-frequency response, allowing all Yamaha Advanced-YST speaker models to produce a significantly wider frequency range than other similarly sized and powered systems.

The MS50's dedicated subwoofer features a 6.5-inch driver powered by a 40-watt amplifier, guaranteeing solid performance and a clear fundamental tone down to a low frequency of 32 Hz. To perfectly complement this outstanding bass performance, Yamaha has provided the MS50 with a pair of two-way satellite speakers, each of which features a 3/4-inch dome-style tweeter mounted above a 3-inch spruce cone mid-range driver. This arrangement delivers a smooth frequency response coupled with an extremely rich and well-defined stereo image, enhanced by an elegant slant-baffle design. To improve ergonomics and convenience, Yamaha has also included the power switch and a standard headphone jack on one of the satellite speakers.

Available in both Platinum White (MS50W) and Calypso Black (MS50B), the MS50's satellite and subwoofer enclosures are also magnetically shielded unlike most competitive products. This allows the system to be placed close to computer monitors and other magnetically sensitive equipment without risk of malfunction.
