ESD Members to be Recognized at June 9 Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony in DetroitSOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 19 -- Over two dozen awards will be presented at the 1999 ESD The Engineering Society Annual Membership Meeting & Awards Program and 25th Annual ESD Construction & Design Awards on June 9, 1999 at 6 p.m., held at the historic General Motors Building in Detroit, Mich. The Annual Awards Program is a night honoring those members in the industry who provide inspiration and leadership through ESD. The Society recognizes members for outstanding achievements and for contributions to ESD. Among those being recognized, are Ralph H. Kummler, Director, Hazardous Waste Management Program, Wayne State University with the 1999 Horace H. Rackham Award and Michael J. Vinarcik, P.E., Quality & Reliability Engineer, Ford Motor Company as 1999 Outstanding Young Engineer. Kimberly R. Duda, College of Engineering, Wayne State University is the 1999 Outstanding Student Engineer. ESD Distinguished Service Awards will be given to Christopher D. Dydra, Manager, Vehicle Program & Controls, DaimlerChrysler and Richard F. Pearson, Manager, Technology Integration, Ford Motor Company. College of Fellows Inductees include: Tito R. Marzotto, P.E., Senior Vice President, BEI Associates, Dr. F. Michael Faubert, P.E., President DTE Engineering Services, Neil De Koker, Manager Director of Original Equipment Suppliers Association, Irvin E. Poston, P.E., (Retired), General Motors Corporation and Dennis M. King, FAIA, CEO, Harley Ellington Design. Outstanding Committee/Council Leadership Awards will be presented to Hugh F. Price, Director, Financial Planning, Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. for Finance Committee Leadership; Laurie A. Kendall, Civil Engineer, General Manager, Allied Waste Industries, Inc. for the 1998 Landfill Conference; Andy McMillan, Director of Marketing, Think & Do Software for the 1998 Open Control Symposium. For 25 years, ESD has honored the construction industry and various projects in Michigan and elsewhere. ESD's Construction & Design Awards are among the premier recognitions accorded to members of the construction industry. These awards recognize architects, engineers, contractors and owners. These Awards will also be presented at the June 9 event. Rich Fisher, Special Projects for UPN-50, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the event.
