Proposed Emissions Standards Will Require Advanced Catalyst Technology
ISELIN, N.J.--(AutomotiveWire)--May 19, 1999--Company spokespersons from Engelhard Corporation, the world's largest supplier of automotive catalysts, are available to discuss possible strategies for meeting proposed, new emission-control standards. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed emission standards that will require new passenger cars, mini-vans, SUVs and pick-up trucks to cut smog-forming pollutants by 80% or more beginning in 2004.
Meeting the requirements of the "Tier 2 Program," as the new EPA initiative is called, will require advanced catalyst systems. Engelhard Corporation, which commercialized the first catalytic converters 25 years ago this fall, remains at the forefront of this revolutionary technology. Company spokespersons can describe recent advances in catalysts and the integration of advanced catalysts with engine design and fuel preparation/delivery technology into complete emission control systems.
They can also discuss their experience in helping customers meet California's standards, which already meet the EPA proposal.
Available spokespersons include: -- Edmund Stanczak, group vice president, Environmental Technologies -- John Mooney, director, new technology, and one of the original
