BALTIMORE, May 19 -- Advance Auto Parts announced today that
the Roanoke, VA-based retail automotive aftermarket company has signed on as
Presenting sponsor for the Saturday, June 12th Textilease Medique 300, NASCAR
Busch Series event at the South Boston Speedway in South Boston, VA.
The event will be officially known as the "TEXTILEASE MEDIQUE 300
PRESENTED BY ADVANCE AUTO PARTS." The Nashville Network (TNN) will televise
the event live with Motor Racing Network (MRN) providing a national radio
broadcast.
"We're pleased to announce this relationship with Advance Auto Parts and
the South Boston Busch Race. Advance Auto Parts has a rich tradition of
customer service and hospitality and we are privileged to have them as a
sponsor. The South Boston 300 is witnessing a renewed interest by both
corporate America and race fans, and having such fine companies as Textilease
Medique and Advance Auto Parts as premium sponsors for this year's race is the
reason why," stated Christopher Lencheski, General Manager of CMDC.
"The sponsorship fortifies the fact that Advance Auto Parts is a good
corporate sponsor and partakes in this type of local event sponsorship that
our customers enjoy attending," stated Chad Tilley, Executive Vice President
and General Manager for Advance Auto Parts. Advance Auto Parts is based in
Roanoke, Virginia, and is one of the largest auto parts chains in the nation.
With the recent acquisition of Parts America, Advance now has over 1,600
stores in 38 states across the United States.
South Boston Speedway, centrally located between Charlotte, NC and
Richmond, VA is one of the few remaining short tracks to host a NASCAR Busch
Series event. Tim Fedawa won the 1998 race after pole winner and eventual
Busch Series Champion, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was black-flagged for rough
driving. Such aggressive driving coupled with the tight quartered 4/10th of a
mile South Boston Speedway is why the race is becoming a great mini
Bristol-style race event on the NASCAR Busch circuit.
Gates open for the Saturday, June 12th, Textilease Medique 300 Presented
by Advance Auto Parts at 10:00 a.m. with Busch Series practice beginning at
11:00 a.m., followed by MBNA Time Trials at 2:30 p.m., with pre-race
festivities starting at 5:00 p.m., EST.
Last year's race was a sell-out. Tickets for this year's Textilease
Medique 300 Presented by Advance Auto Parts are selling fast and are available
at Ticketmaster(TM) outlets. Credit Card phone orders may be made by calling
757-671-8100.
