Birmingham-Area Toyota Sales Climb In April

    MIAMI, May 14 -- Toyota's three Birmingham-area dealers
report a 27-percent gain in April retail truck sales and a nine-percent
advance in April retail car sales over the year-ago month.
    Birmingham-area dealers include Hoover Toyota, Limbaugh Toyota and Serra
Toyota.
    In the five-state region served by Southeast Toyota Distributors, Inc., an
April retail sales record was established with truck sales and car sales
advancing five percent and four percent respectively to surpass the former
record, set last year.
    In addition to the all-new North American-manufactured Camry Solara,
Southeast-area sales leaders include the California-built, two-wheel-drive
Tacoma pickup, up 18 percent; and two Kentucky-built vehicles: Sienna, up 14
percent and Camry sedan, up three percent.
    Ranked first among Toyota's American distributors in sales and customer
satisfaction, Southeast Toyota is the independent distributor of Toyotas in
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.  Owned and
