Land Rover Colorado Springs Named Top Land Rover RetailerCOLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., May 13 -- At a ceremony today, retailer principal Nelson B. Noland, Centre manager Thom Buckley and the staff of Land Rover Colorado Springs received the Land Rover Trophy, an annual award presented to the top performing Land Rover Centre or retailer in North America. The impressive bronze sculpture, a traveling trophy featuring plaques commemorating former winners, will reside at the Colorado Springs-based Land Rover retailer until the next Land Rover Trophy award ceremony in 2000. "As a team, we really did not set out to win this award, although we were all aware of the requirements," said Thom Buckley, Centre manager. "This award is about hard work and a commitment to doing everything right -- especially by team members who always see the opportunity to improve, and do." The Land Rover Trophy is the highest award possible in Land Rover's Marque of Distinction program, which was launched in 1996 as an effort to recognize excellence among Land Rover's many retailers. Sixteen measurements -- assessing everything from customer satisfaction to market penetration -- are used to gauge the performance of the 118 Land Rover retailers in the U.S. In 1999, Land Rover Colorado Springs accumulated 8,908 points in the 16 competitive categories, just ahead of Land Rover Seattle's 8,894 points. Land Rover Aspen, winner of the 1996 Land Rover Trophy, placed third. Charles R. Hughes, president of Land Rover North America, Inc., noted, "The people at the retail level carry Land Rover's image to our customers each and every day. This is a great team, and it typifies how a dedicated, energetic, enthusiastic group can work together to provide the Land Rover customer with a truly magical vehicle ownership experience." Land Rover Colorado Springs, which employs 21 people, opened in 1994. As a small but growing Centre, Land Rover Colorado Springs keeps pace with other retailers of its size. In 1998, Land Rover Colorado Springs retailed 97 new vehicles. Land Rover North America, Inc., established in 1986, imports Range Rovers and Discoverys manufactured in Solihull, England, for sale in North America and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the BMW Group, Munich, Germany.
