J.B. Hunt Transport Services Makes Announcement
LOWELL, Ark.--May 13, 1999--J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., , announced today that revenue levels, primarily in the intermodal business, did not meet expectations for the month of April. In addition, a non-recurring $2 million cost to repair a group of leased trailers that the company recently returned to the lessor was expensed in April. While the combination has a negative impact on earnings for the second quarter, it is premature to project the precise effect on the full quarter. Thus far in May, load volumes have increased and are at the expected level. Fundamentals of the company's business remain positive. Driver supply is steady, safety costs are under control, customer satisfaction is high, intermodal service has improved significantly relative to a year ago, and growth in dedicated contract services and logistics services is strong.
