The MacNeal-Schwendler Corp. Named as One of 1999's Top 10 Technology Innovators by Aviation Week & Space Technology

    LOS ANGELES--May 12, 1999--

MSC.FlightLoads and Dynamics Cited as Key
Ingredient in Developing New Aircraft

MSC , the world's leading developer of simulation software, announced that it has been named one of 10 Technology Innovation Award winners for 1999 by Aviation Week & Space Technology.
MSC.FlightLoads and Dynamics is used to enable airframe manufacturers to access a single aerodynamic model for an aircraft during the development process. The award cites MSC's collaboration with key customers, which included the use of Web-based "extranets" to implement the constant dialog between MSC developers and customers that is invaluable during the initial phases of development.
Since its introduction in December 1998, MSC.FlightLoads and Dynamics has been used by leading airframe manufacturers around the world. Award winners were announced in the May 10 edition and will receive their awards during Aviation Week's Aerospace Expo, Nov. 17-19, in Long Beach, Calif.
"We are pleased that this new product has been chosen by Aviation Week," said Ken Blakely, senior vice president of MSC. "This recognition reaffirms our leading engineering software position in the aerospace industry, building upon the success of MSC.NASTRAN and MSC.PATRAN.
"MSC.FlightLoads and Dynamics will be a featured product at the 1999 MSC Worldwide Aerospace Conference to be held next month in Long Beach, California."
"Technology is the cornerstone of the global aviation and aerospace business," said Kenneth E. Gazzola, executive vice president/publisher of McGraw-Hill's Aviation Week. "The innovations honored this year were chosen for their potential to effect positive change in the industry."

    About the Technology Innovation Awards

The Technology Innovation Awards, which began in 1997, are awarded to innovative companies that develop products that either rely on new technology or advancements in existing technology for the global aerospace business. A panel of independent judges representing the military, commercial and space sectors select the winners from nominees offered by Aviation Week editors and outside organizations.
