General Semiconductor Announces Launch of MOSFET Product Line and Election of Directors At Company's Annual Meeting
MELVILLE, NY--May 12, 1999--General Semiconductor, Inc. , a leading manufacturer of discrete semiconductors, today held its annual stockholders' meeting and announced its plans to launch a line of power MOSFET products."We are pleased to announce that we are well along in a program to internally develop a line of power MOSFET products," Ronald A. Ostertag, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Semiconductor told stockholders. "We have opened a Silicon Valley MOSFET design center staffed with established MOSFET designers and have executed manufacturing agreements with leading-edge foundries in Asia. Our MOSFET design focus is to provide our customers with power MOSFET products that employ state of the art trench and planar technologies via fabless models," he continued.
At the meeting, stockholders elected Ronald A. Ostertag, Ronald Rosenzweig, Peter A. Schwartz, Samuel L. Simmons and Prof. Gerard T. Wrixon as directors of the Company. The stockholders also ratified the appointment of Deloitte and Touche LLP as the Company's independent auditor for the current fiscal year.
