Delphi Invests $14 Million in its Oklahoma Catalyst FacilityFLINT, Mich., May 11 -- Delphi Automotive Systems is investing $14 million in its ASEC Manufacturing facility located in Port of Catoosa, Okla., according to Donald L. Runkle, president of Delphi Energy & Engine Management Systems. Delphi will invest $14 million to expand its scientific capabilities and upgrade its manufacturing processes. "This investment will allow us to expand our offices and laboratories for our new technical staff," said Guy S. Jones, managing director for ASEC. "In this competitive marketplace where vehicle emissions standards are becoming more stringent, investing in our people and manufacturing processes will enable Delphi and ASEC to remain a leader in the production of catalysts for vehicle manufacturers worldwide." Currently, ASEC holds 22 percent of market share in the production of catalysts. ASEC's Port of Catoosa operations, located near Tulsa, Okla., is a major supplier of catalysts to General Motors, and supplies catalysts to Japan, China, Mexico and the U.S. aftermarket. Currently, ASEC employs more than 700 men and women worldwide, and has recently hired 95 new operators and material handlers.
