Delphi Receives Two 1998 SIA Quality Achievement Awards
KOKOMO, Ind., May 10 -- Delphi Automotive Systems
recently received two 1998 Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc. (SIA) Quality
Achievement Awards for SIR (supplemental inflatable restraint) modules built
at Delphi Delco Electronics Systems in Kokomo and powertrain control modules
built in Singapore. To qualify for the award, Delphi had to achieve quality
and delivery averages above 99 and 98 percent respectively in parts supplied
to the Lafayette-based company during the 1998 calendar year.
Delphi Delco Electronics Systems representatives John Myer, SIR operations
manager; Mack Gardner, SIR III quality operator; John Rupp, customer
satisfaction engineer; and Joe Hendershot, account manager, accepted the
awards at the Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc. Supplier Award ceremony in
Lafayette, Ind., at the end of April.
Kokomo's Plant 7 SIR manufacturing and production control scored extremely
high in quality and delivery. Singapore also scored high enough to qualify
for the award in quality and delivery of powertrain control modules.
"We are delighted to receive this highly-regarded recognition from a
valued customer," said David B. Wohleen, president of Delphi Delco Electronics
Systems. "This prestigious award shows that the determination of our people
working in these two plants to achieve extraordinary customer satisfaction is
paying off. I'm very proud of the people in both facilities and encourage
them to keep up the excellent work."
Delphi's powertrain control modules integrate engine and transmission
control functions into a single module to manage engine and transmission
performance. SIR sensing diagnostic modules control airbag deployment.
