Ford Credit Acquires Thailand Finance Company
BANGKOK, Thailand, May 6 -- Ford Credit International, a
subsidiary of Ford Credit, has announced its acquisition of Sahasin Finance
Company, Ltd. of Bangkok.
PRIMUS Finance Company complements Ford Credit's existing operation in
Thailand, PRIMUS Leasing. The acquisition allows increased support through
new product offerings for Ford and Mazda activities in Thailand and increased
access to the capital markets.
"PRIMUS has been looking for opportunities to expand the scope of its
business and services to customers in Thailand," said Dave Flanigan,
president, Ford Credit International.
PRIMUS Leasing offers a dealer inventory (wholesale) plan for Ford and
Mazda dealers and automotive hire purchase contracts for their customers.
Additional product lines will include dealership construction loans,
mortgages and working capital loans. Also, the acquisition will allow PRIMUS
to upgrade its financing plans for dealer inventories (wholesale financing).
"We are positive about the long-term outlook for Thailand and see many
growth opportunities for the future," said Flanigan.
Sahasin employees will join about 90 PRIMUS employees in Lake Rajada
Office Complex in Bangkok.
Ford Credit is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company
and is the world's largest automotive finance company. Ford Credit provides
vehicle financing in 36 countries to more than 8 million customers and more
than 11,000 automotive dealers.
