ZAP Hosts Annual Meeting May 16; Sales Climb in 1998 for Northern California Electric Bike Company
SEBASTOPOL, Calif.--May 5, 1999--Electric bike and scooter manufacturer ZAP Power Systems (OTC BB:ZAPP) announced today a general meeting of the shareholders Sunday, May 16, 1999 in Sebastopol, California.ZAP's management is excited about the company's growth in 1998. Sales doubled to $3.5 million, up 115% over 1997's $1.6 million in sales. Losses for the start-up company shrunk by more than 20% to $1.1 million. The electric vehicle company announced the delivery of its 20,000th unit in 1998, making it a leading producer of electric vehicles in North America. ZAP manufacturers electric 2- and 3-wheel bicycles, law enforcement bicycles, electric motor kits for bicycles, electric scooters and other small electric vehicles.
"We are encouraged with the growth in sales for 1998 and look forward to meeting our shareholders to discuss ZAP's exciting plans for 1999," said ZAP managing director Gary Starr who co-founded ZAP with inventor Jim McGreen in 1994.
ZAP's annual meeting will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, May 16 at the Sebastopol Community Center, which is located one block north of ZAP's Morris Street facility. ZAP is headquartered in an 8,000 square foot facility in Sebastopol, California, a small town located in the wine-growing region of Sonoma County in Northern California. Sebastopol is about 50 miles north of San Francisco and 20 miles from the Pacific coast.
