Delphi Names Maniscalco General Director of Engineering For Delphi Interior SystemsWARREN, Mich., May 4 -- Delphi Automotive Systems announced today the appointment of James A. Maniscalco to general director of engineering, Delphi Interior Systems, effective May 1, 1999. Maniscalco is responsible for Delphi Interior Systems' worldwide engineering function and support for Delphi's Occupant Protection, Interior Systems and Door Systems business teams. "I am very excited to welcome Jim to our team," said Rodney O'Neal, vice president of Delphi Automotive Systems and president of Delphi Interior Systems. "The scope and depth of his experience, as well as his leadership, will help this division continue our rich heritage of engineering excellence." Maniscalco joins Delphi from TRW, where he was most recently vice president and chief technical officer for the company's steering, suspension and engine group. Previous experience includes core product development, application development, integrating engineering into a lean manufacturing process, as well as extensive intellectual property and global leadership management. Prior to TRW, Maniscalco directed research on lasers and fusion energy at Lawrence Livermore National Lab. He began his professional career in the U.S. Navy, where he reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy. Maniscalco also holds a master's degree in physics from the University of Turin in Italy, and master's and doctorate degrees in engineering from Purdue University.
