Ron Harbour Heads List of Speakers at the International Automotive Manufacturing (IAM) Exposition & Conference
PITTSBURGH, May 4 -- Ron Harbour, president, Harbour &
Associates, Inc., an authority on automotive manufacturing, heads the list of
speakers and panelists appearing at the International Automotive Manufacturing
(IAM) Exposition & Conference, May 11-13, in Detroit. As the largest
automotive manufacturing conference and exposition in North America, the IAM
Exposition & Conference showcases the latest technologies, products and
services that impact automotive manufacturing.
Harbour will be leading a panel of senior automotive manufacturing
executives in a discussion on the future of manufacturing processes. Entitled
"Manufacturing Strategies for the Next Century," this session will include
panelists from Honda of America, General Motors, DaimlerChrysler and Visteon
Automotive Systems.
Modularity and extended enterprise technology and business practices are
changing the way automotive companies deal with customers, suppliers and
competitors. Many in the industry believe manufacturing success is linked to
modularity and an organization's ability to compete with enterprise-wide
knowledge and communication.
A two-part session on "Modularity and the Extended Enterprise," will be
moderated by John Waraniak, managing director, Benchmarking Partners and
includes input from DaimlerChrysler, General Motors and Dana Automotive
Systems Group representatives.
In another session entitled, "Lean Manufacturing: Back to Basics or New
and Improved?" panelists will discuss implementation of the lean manufacturing
process in today's world. Ford, Toyota and Visteon representatives will
highlight the advantages and differences of lean manufacturing over mass
production.
Also, attendees can participate in live workshops, and sit in on technical
sessions including Emerging Technologies and Applied Solutions, Information
Technology and Controls and Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing and Life
Cycle Considerations.
Attendees of IAM can also attend, at no cost, the Motion Control
Exposition and the International Robots and Vision Show.
Exhibitors that reserve space at both IAM '99 and the upcoming 1999 SAE
Southern Automotive Manufacturing Conference & Exposition (SAMC) will receive
discounted show rates. To reserve exhibit space at IAM '99 or SAMC, contact
Loretta Dohn or Lisa Rawa at 724-772-7152 or visit http://www.sae.org.
The Society of Automotive Engineers consists of close to 80,000 engineers,
business executives, educators and students from more than 97 countries.
