Isuzu Reports Another Record-Breaking Commercial Vehicle Retail Sales Month; Phenomenal First-Quarter Sales Top Even Last Year's Records
CERRITOS, Calif.--(AutomotiveWire)--May 4, 1999--American Isuzu Motors Inc. (AIMI), the distributor of Isuzu commercial vehicles, announced that April retail sales were up 61 percent over last year's record-breaking monthly figure.April also boasted a 35 percent increase over March, which happened to be the previous highest month to date in the company's history, with a 50 percent monthly gain over March 1998. For the first quarter, retail sales were up 31 percent over last year's record-breaking figures.
There are several factors involved in AIMI's commercial vehicle sales success. The strength of the low cab forward market, especially in Class 3-4 vehicles, has contributed to AIMI's success in this niche.
Also, AIMI has incorporated and continues to enhance its aggressive marketing programs, such as the Isuzu Truck Owner Protection Program, the Isuzu Gold Star Certified Used Truck Program and AIMI's new Assured Maintenance Program. Finally, AIMI's continuing strong commitment to its dealer network has played a big part in the company's sales success.
"This is encouraging news," said Jim Underwood, senior vice president, COO, Commercial Vehicle. "It's one thing to be up over a slow year. But last year was the best year in the company's history. This gives us great optimism that we will reach our Isuzu-badged sales goal of over 20,000 units this year."
Isuzu trucks have been the No. 1 low cab forward truck in the United States for 13 consecutive years. More than 200,000 Isuzu-designed Class 3-7 vehicles have been sold in the United States since 1984.
