Kia Sales Bloom in April; Sales Hit Record Levels as Spring Buying Season Begins

    IRVINE, Calif., May 3 -- Kia Motors America continued its
winning record in April with its second-best sales month in history, coming on
the heels of last month's record.  Kia recorded sales of 10,606 vehicles in
April, a 92 percent increase over last April's sales.
    April was also a record-breaking month for sales of the Sportage 2-Door
Convertible.  Kia sold 580 Sportage 2-Door Convertibles during the month.
With continued strong performances from both Sephia and Sportage, year-to-date
sales are 50 percent higher than 1998.
