Nissan Reports a 23.4 Percent Increase in Sales
CARSON, Calif., May 3 -- The Nissan Division of Nissan North
America, Inc. (NNA), posted April sales of 43,214 units, an increase of 23.4
percent versus last year.
The Nissan Quest had another strong sales month since the launch of the
all-new four-door model last November. With sales of 3,464 units in April,
Quest turned in an increase of 90.2 percent over last year.
Sentra sales were 7,112, a 26.8 percent increase from last month and a
14.9 percent boost from 1998. The Altima sedan, Nissan's volume sales leader,
posted sales of 12,962 units, a 33.2 percent increase versus last year.
Maxima, Nissan's flagship sedan, reported sales of 9,603 units, a 29.1 percent
increase from a year ago. Overall, Nissan sold 29,958 cars for the month, a
20.8 percent increase over last year.
Aided by Quest's strong performance, total Nissan Division truck sales for
April were 13,256 -- a 29.7 percent increase compared to last year. The
Frontier pickup recorded sales of 5,803, a 19.5 percent increase over last
year. Pathfinder sales were 3,989 units.
Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for April totaled
29,522 units, which represents 68.3 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the
United States.
Nissan North America, Inc. sales for April, including Nissan and Infiniti
Divisions, totaled 47,243 units, a 21.5 percent increase versus last year.
Nissan North America, Inc., which includes the Infiniti luxury Division,
markets and distributes vehicles in the United States to more than 1,200
dealers.
