Team ZR-1 Purchases Historic Morrison Motorsports no. 94 ZR-1 Corvette For Open Road Racing

    SAN JOSE, CA--May 3, 1999--Team ZR-1 today announced its purchase of the famous no. 94 ZR-1 Corvette that won races at Sebring, Daytona, Rolex 24 and other race series such as the Corvette challenge and SCCA World Challenge.
    This historic ZR-1 Corvette was designed, built and raced by Morrison Motorsports under the leadership of Tommy Morrison who was successful in automobile racing since the mid 1980s.
    The no. 94 Corvette has been sitting dormant since 1995 due to rule changes forcing the car to run with much more total weight then it had for the 1994 race season. Team ZR-1 founder and CEO John Rovner states, "We felt we could not see this historic part of American racing legend end up in a museum as the Morrison Motorsports no. 93 has. We wanted the public to see this fine racing machine get back onto the tracks in race events that the public can see and touch hands on."
    Team ZR-1 will be campaigning no. 94 in Open Road Race series such as Classic Auto Racing Society which is put on by two-time Indy 500 winner Rodger Ward. This year, Team ZR-1 will attempt to run no. 94 over 200 MPH on a public road at one of the four remaining ORRs. no. 94 will be headed to compete in the fastest speed record over a public road during this racing season. No. 94 will also attend drag racing events so that the public can enjoy and examine how a well-designed American sports car can perform.
    Team ZR-1 was founded by John Rovner several years ago and John has donated a lot of his time and money in giving the Corvette owner free services over the Internet via Team ZR-1 web sites and e-mail services. Over 600 teammates who are located worldwide help support all Corvette owners needing answers to their questions in all aspects of Corvette ownership.
