AAA's Traffic Safety Programs Reap Advertising Awards; AAA's Materials for Kids and Adults Honored in East Bay Competition

    SAN FRANCISCO--April 29, 1999--Several traffic safety programs by the AAA of Northern California were recognized for innovation and creativity in an East Bay advertising competition.
    "AAA's traffic safety programs often depend upon creative techniques to get and keep the attention of children and drivers," said Don Patton, vice president of safety and publishing for AAA of Northern California. "These awards recognize creative excellence in programs that help save lives."
    The awards were presented by AdMark! The East Bay Advertising Club. Three of AAA's programs won an Addy Award, one was awarded a silver citation of excellence.


--   AAA's Otto Club Web site (www.ottoclub.org), which features
     traffic safety activities for children, won the Addy Award in the
     public service interactive media division and was recognized as
     Best of Division for public service.

--   Cheers!, AAA's party guide featuring alcohol-free recipes, took
     the Addy Award for a public service brochure.

--   AAA's school textbook cover on the dangers of driving under the
     influence won an Addy Award for a public service cover.

--   AAA's public service announcement (PSA) video on Halloween safety
     took the silver citation of excellence for audio visual
     electronic media in the public service division.
