Lockheed Martin Receives Simulation Driver Training Contract from Werner Enterprises
ORLANDO, Fla.--April 28, 1999--Lockheed Martin Information Systems has been awarded a training systems contract worth approximately $750,000 with a potential growth to $12 million from Werner Enterprises, one of the largest truckload carriers in the United States.The contract calls for delivery of a motion-based driver trainer system that incorporates low-cost, commercial-off-the-shelf visual and processing elements.
Applicable for use with trucks, buses or cars, these driver trainer systems feature day or night views, a wide variety of weather conditions, malfunctions and road emergencies, automated driver-performance assessment, actual vehicle cabins and intelligent traffic.
"This award confirms our capability to provide cost effective, state-of-the-art technologies to enhance training and safety within the commercial trucking industry," said Lockheed Martin Information Systems President John Hallal.
