Audiovox Corporation Announces Extension of Supply Agreement With Nissan North America

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.--April 28, 1999--Audiovox Corporation (AMEX: VOX) today announced that, after successive months of continued consumer popularity, it has extended its supply agreement with Nissan North America, Inc. to supply its "EZ Fit" center entertainment console for Nissan's four-door Quest minivan through the 1999 model year.
The entertainment console consists of a five-inch LCD television and videocassette playback unit. The EZ Fit entertainment console also includes a wireless remote control, 4-inch built-in speaker, built-in antenna, two headphone jacks, two audio / video input jacks for games or a camcorder and an integrated drink holder. Customers who buy or lease a 1999 Nissan Quest will receive the "EZ Fit" entertainment console at no cost. Audiovox will continue to ship its system directly to each purchaser, along with a free installation certificate redeemable at any of the nearly 500 Audiovox authorized Mobile video dealers.
Commenting on the continuation of the agreement, Patrick Lavelle, Senior Vice President of the Electronics Division stated, "This agreement marks the second extension of our supply agreement with Nissan, a clear testament to the customer and dealer satisfaction Nissan has received for its Quest minivan and our product offering."
"Audiovox's television and videocassette player (VCP) is key to this vehicle," said Kevin Wagstaff, Dealer Operations Manager for Nissan's Mid-Atlantic Region. "When dealers are able to demonstrate it to customers and kids, it makes the sale immediately. One of our key objectives has been to establish brand awareness of the Quest minivan as the 'family room on wheels,' and Audiovox's TV/VCP is a powerful feature that has appealed to the Quest buyer."
