27 April 1999
United Recyclers Group Announces 50th Pinnacle Installation at Linn's Truck Salvage, Inc.DENVER, April 26 -- United Recyclers Group (URG) and Actual Systems of America (ASA) today announced an important milestone in the deployment of the Pinnacle(TM) Auto Recycling Trading System. With installation of Pinnacle(TM) at Linn's Truck Salvage in Conway, Arkansas, ASA has now completed 50 installations of the Pinnacle(TM) Auto Recycling Trading System (PARTS). Including multi-sites, there are a total of 60 locations in use today throughout the United States and the network is growing by approximately ten to twelve sites per month. URG is a recently formed group of over 350 auto recyclers throughout the U.S. and Canada that participate in many joint programs including co-op buying, group advertising, shared training, and the development of the Pinnacle(TM) system. Pinnacle(TM) is the Auto Recycler inventory management system that was designed by URG and developed by ASA. This software allows recyclers to take advantage of modern technologies that were previously unavailable to them such as digital imaging (of parts), bar coding, real time reporting, additionally it is Y2K compliant and has many other recycler designed features such as automatic pricing. Linda Linn, co-owner of Linn's said, "I was very pleased and impressed with the staff that ASA sent for the installation. They were very knowledgeable and dedicated. We are very excited to have the best recycler inventory management system on the market." Linn's computerized their facility in 1982 and converted to the Pinnacle(TM) to take advantage of its features and functionality, which the prior system did not offer. Al Lacy of Lacy Auto Parts in Richmond, VA and former CEO of Actual Systems of America (the software developers) said, "It is so exciting to see what started as a dream for recyclers reach this important milestone. Many people doubted a group of auto recyclers could ever achieve something like this but we've managed to create an inventory management system controlled by auto recyclers with an impressive customer base!" Actual Systems developed the Pinnacle(TM) based on very specific specifications that were laid out by the Partners of URG. The impetus for designing the Pinnacle(TM) grew out of an alleged monopoly for recyclers' computer systems, which was later addressed by an FTC anti-trust action. Armando Kellum of ASA said, "I think one reason we've had so much success is that this system was completely designed by auto recyclers who know what they need from an inventory management system and not by a group of computer programmers."
