Prescient Technologies Makes DesignQA for CATIA Software Faster and Easier for CATIA Users

    BOSTON--April 23, 1999--

Major Upgrade Boosts Runtime Performance and Offers More
Collaboration Features

Prescient Technologies, Inc., the global leader in design quality software solutions for the manufacturing industry, is now shipping DesignQA(R) version 2.3 for CATIA(R). This major upgrade includes new integration features and a tenfold run-time performance increase.
DesignQA for CATIA software enables organizations to improve product quality by improving the efficiency of the design process. DesignQA was recently recognized by Industry Week Magazine as a "Technology of the Year" for 1998, joining products from Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Sandia National Laboratories, Sun Microsystems, and other notable organizations.
Pre-configured with more than 100 design quality tests that focus on the overall integrity of model data, DesignQA can be used out-of-the-box to realize benefits right away. The newest version of Prescient Technologies' market-leading design quality software product delivers closer collaboration with CATIA, the industry-leading three-dimensional, solids-based CAD system from Dassault Systemes.

DesignQA helps CATIA users:

- detect deviations from corporate standards and best practices,

- assess the importance of each problem, and

- recommend and assist in implementing corrective action.

Interactive use of DesignQA as part of the designer's session also serves to continuously educate CATIA users on an organization's standard practices to assure an efficient and consistent implementation of the company's design practices and the CAD system itself.
DesignQA software automates many of the mundane tasks involved in product design, so users can spend more time on the design process and less time on the mechanics of the CAD system. With DesignQA Version 2.3, CATIA users can eliminate modeling errors and repetitive design work that can cause unnecessary delays, substantial design cost increases, and even product recalls.
DesignQA Version 2.3 for CATIA demonstrates Prescient Technologies' continued commitment to providing solutions in the design quality and design process improvement arenas. This latest release of the flagship product on the CATIA platform provides substantial improvements over the prior release.

Major enhancements include:

- performance improvements that reduce run time by a factor of 10-to-1,

- support for CATIA Sessions,

- support for the Sun Microsystems platform, and

- expanded configuration features.

Also included in this new release is a prototype of Prescient Technologies metrics collection and reporting product, a Windows(R)-based tool that provides engineering managers the means to measure the quality of the engineering process by analyzing the quality metrics generated by DesignQA.
"By analyzing quality metrics, managers can identify where problems commonly occur and reallocate resources to focus on addressing the most critical issues," said Daniel Walker, DesignQA product manager.
"We have just raised the bar again," said Gavin Finn, president and chief executive officer of Prescient Technologies, Inc. "While DesignQA improves the efficiency of the designer, our metrics collection and reporting system improves the effectiveness of the design manager. You can only improve what you can measure, and we are providing the tools to bring manufacturing quality improvement techniques to the design organization."
