LOS ANGELES/COSTA MESA, Calif.--April 23, 1999-- MSC.Engineering-e.com, a division of The MacNeal-Schwendler Corp. , Friday launched its e-commerce and community framework site at www.Engineering-e.com.The first e-marketplace for engineers, Engineering-e.com, combines products, services and information dedicated to the engineering community. It provides an optimal shopping experience through a unique technical environment for software tools and problem solving.
"Engineering-e.com is designed for the 10 million engineers worldwide, who use or specify over one billion dollars in engineering products and services every year. www.Engineering-e.com connects MSC's 40 years of outstanding products, services and tools for solving engineering problems by harnessing the power of the web to reach an unbounded number of opportunities for growth," said Frank Perna Jr., chairman and CEO, MSC.

MSC.Engineering-e.com's growth will be driven by site participant feedback. Current input from a beta site preview already has led to plans for additional "marts" that will offer direct sales of products and resources for engineering. During the two day beta testing period, 1000 engineers registered as charter members. Next, Engineering-e.com will provide near real-time access to advice, services and information from a global selection of consultants and experts.
