Ford Employees to Give Rouge River 'Spring Cleaning'DEARBORN, Mich., April 23 -- More than 200 Ford employees from Southeast Michigan will be spending the work day in an unconventional work environment -- along the banks of the Rouge River. They will be restoring the riverbanks, removing debris and log jams, and beautifying surrounding areas throughout the Rouge River watershed in the Dearborn area. The Rouge River Spring Cleaning is an application of the new Ford ACTS (Assisting the Community Through Service) program, through which salaried employees worldwide may opt to dedicate 16 hours annually volunteering in teams with approved non-profit groups and other civic organizations during work hours. The Friends of the Rouge, the Henry Ford Estate, and Wayne County Division of Parks are partnering with Ford in this effort. WHEN: TUESDAY, April 27, 1999 8 a.m. -- 4 p.m. WHERE: Meet at Henry Ford Estate - Fair Lane 4901 Evergreen, Dearborn (between Hubbard and Michigan Ave.) Work will take place at three locations: at the Estate, along Rouge River banks from WHQ toward I-94, and along Hines Drive by Parkland Recreation Area.
