AIAG's Auto-Tech 99 is Building Solutions for Automakers and Suppliers In the Global Industry
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 21 -- The Automotive Industry Action
Group's (AIAG) 12th annual AUTO-TECH 99 Conference and Exposition Aug. 31-
Sept. 2, 1999 at Detroit's Cobo Center, is "Building Solutions for a Global
Industry" by educating vehicle manufacturer and supplier executives on
improved business practices and processes, which can help enhance
productivity, quality and competitiveness.
    "Every year, thousands of the industry's executives attend AUTO-TECH to
keep abreast of the latest information on technologies and business solutions
to help their companies remain competitive," said Ray Mitzel, AIAG executive
director.  "This conference and exposition is designed to educate the supply
chain on industry best practices, so they can successfully compete in today's
ever-changing global marketplace."
    The AUTO-TECH conference and exposition offers attendees more than 120
educational sessions, top-rated speakers and a superior exhibit setting.
    Sessions will cover such topics as QS-9000, CAD/CAM data exchange, bar
code labeling, electronic data interchange (EDI), materials management, the
Automotive Network eXchange(R) (ANX(R)) service and the Year 2000 issue.

    *  An industry keynote luncheon with Samir G. Gibara, chairman, president
and CEO of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. -- who will discuss the importance
of suppliers quickly bringing new products to market in today's fast paced
global economy -- Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.;
    *  A general session luncheon featuring All-Pro quarterback Fran Tarkenton
-- on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.; and
    *  Briefings from AIAG project teams on cooperative industry efforts that
